Sneak Peek - What's Next
I'm currently working on a relatively major update of Wicca Plus, and while I do not have an ETA on when this will be released, here is a short list of new features / improvements which are confirmed to be in the next release:
  • Astronomically accurate dates & times for Solstices and Equinoxes.
  • Camera / photo library access - to add images to your entries, you can now use the built in camera or grab images from your photo library. The app will automatically import and format the images and paste the HTML image code for you.
  • Icon Picker - when adding / editing your entries, you can select from over 150 built-in icons to idetify your entry.
  • Fully customizable Sabbat entries - when you add an entry to the Sabbats section, you can tie it to a sabbat and the app will automatically insert the date information etc. just like the built-in records.
  • Better Calendar integration - Sabbats can be added to your calendar with much more control, and a built in user interface so you can customize the information & alerts etc.
  • Much, much more on the way!
There's more I'm working on but the above is what's guaranteed for the next release.

Cheers!

Images and Icons Sneak Peek
When you're editing an entry, there's now two small buttons available, on either side of the Entry Title field - the one on the left is for the icon picker, the one on the right for inserting an image.

To insert an image, have your cursor where you want the image to appear, then tap the camera icon. It will ask if you want to take a picture, or grab something from your library. Then once you have taken (or chosen) a photo, the app imports it, sizes it, and creates the HTML img tag and inserts that into the text where your cursor was.

To select an icon for your entry, tap the little button on the left of the Title field. This brings up the Icon picker. You can scroll up and down through the available icons. To select one, simply tap it. That's all there is to it!

Please note - the Journal section is fundamentally different (to maintain compatibility with the free Wicca app) so unfortunately, icons cannot be added to Journal entries in this way.

Sabbats and Calendars - Sneak Peek
I had a request for the ability to edit the built-in sabbat entries; basically the idea was that users could keep the sorting and dating functions but change the content to reflect their own rituals.

Unfortunately this proved to be infeasable - that is, editing built-in entries. It would mean moving them out of the built-in section and into the user section, along with any supporting files (eg. images) and it got too complicated to be reliable.

So the next-best thing was to replicate the sabbat dating and sorting functions, on your own added entries.

When you are adding a new entry in the Sabbats section, you will see there is a third new icon - in the Nav bar, beside the Save button. That lets you tie the entry to a sabbat. Just tap the icon and a picker appears, then tap the sabbat you wish to tie the entry to.

When you do this, two lines of text will be inserted into the entry. You can edit, move or delete them if you wish. What the lines do is tell the app where to insert the Sabbat's date. You won't see the actual date while editing, but during regular viewing you will.

And when vieweing your new sabbat entry (or any of the existing ones) you will note there is now a calendar icon in the Nav bar. You can tap that icon, or tap the sabbat date within the entry, which allows you to add that sabbat to your calendar.

Of course, you could add the sabbats to your calendar before, but it was 'invisible' before - no interface. Now you can see what you are adding, make changes, set an alarm time, and so on. This applies to both the built-in entries, and sabbat entries that you create.
